Berkos Mikhail Andreyevich (1861 - 1919)
Ukrainian painter, a wonderful draftsman. Born in Odessa. Graduated ORSH (1877), studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in Studio M. Klodt and V. Orlovsky (1878 - 1889). He received medals: small and large silver (1884 - 1886), a small gold (1887), a gold (1888), the title of class artist 1-st degree (1889). Retired AH abroad (1890 - 1893). Participated in exhibitions since 1890 (AH, TYURH, Ora, the Society of Kharkov artists, etc.). In 1900 exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris. Since 1893 he worked mainly in Ukraine. Taught (since 1904) in drawing school in Kharkov. He painted landscapes (oil, watercolor). Personal exhibitions took place in Kharkov (1906, 1938, 1962). Pictures are stored in the largest Ukrainian and Russian museums.
