Died Peter Weil, a writer and editor of "Radio Liberty"

Writer and journalist Peter Weill died in Prague on 61 th year of life.

As the environment writer, died on Monday evening.
Peter Weill emigrated from the Soviet Union in 1977 in the United States. He worked for Radio Liberty and the last day served as chief editor of its Russian service.
He was friendly with many well-known figures of Russian emigration of the time, such as Sergei Dovlatov.

Peter Weil - author of numerous essays, in which thinking in particular about the circumstances of life of various artists and public figures.
Some of these essays were heard on air Russian Service of Radio Liberty, others were published in book form ( "genius loci", "Map of the motherland", "a poem about me").

Fruitful was a creative union of Peter Weill and Alexander Genis - together they wrote a "60-e: The world of Soviet man," "Americana", "Russian Cuisine in Exile", "Native question".

Also, Peter Weil wrote in collaboration with the literary scholar Lev Losev book "Joseph Brodsky: Works and Days" and a compilation of poems of the poet-laureate of the Nobel Prize - "Christmas Poems" and "intersection area".
