Mario Sironi, Italian painter (1885-1961). Born in the family of an engineer, in the years 1896-1902 he studied in Rome engineering. After graduation enrolled in a private school of painting.

During his studies in Rome Sironi met the future founders of the Italian Futurist Marinetti, Severini and Boccioni, whom he then had ties of friendship for many years. In 1908 the artist went to Boccioni in Germany and France, and in 1913 sent to Paris, where he studied modern art, Cubism fascinated. In the works Sironi, starting in 1908, there is strong influence of Boccioni's painting. In 1914 the Roman gallerist Giuseppe Sprovieri first exhibited at the Free Futurist Exhibition "16 works Sironi. A year later, Marinetti announces entry Sironi in Milan, a group of futurists.

With the entry of Italy into World War Mario Sironi go volunteer in the army, thus preventing him from drawing. In his works 1917/1918 period there was a significant effect of metaphysical painting, yet the artist's first solo exhibition was held in 1919 in Casa d'arte Bragalya »(Casa d'arte Bragaglia) - only existed in the Italian Futurist art interior.

By 1920, the artist is moving away from a futuristic art and in the same year, together with the artists Leonardo Dudrevillem, Achille Funi and Luigi Russolo publishes an artistic manifesto «Contra tutti i ritorni in pittura» ( «against any repetition in painting"), where the artists have insisted to establish a definitive, specific style and form in painting.

In 1922, Mario Sironi, as art critic begins to cooperate in the newspaper «Il Popolo d'Italia» ( «The people of Italy"), is produced Mussolini. In the same year, together with 6 other artists, art forms group Novecento. In 1932, together with the artists Enrico Prampolini and Gerardo Dottori, participates in organized in Rome a grand Mostra della Rivoluzione Fascista ( «Exhibitions Fascist Revolution"), decorated her halls futuristic work. During the reign of the fascist regime in Italy, Mario Sironi enjoyed the patronage of the authorities and carried out numerous commissions for monumental wall painting, creating mosaics and bas-reliefs.
