In the center of a unique exhibition - a wonderful person and work of their founder, Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev (1872-1929), a bright figure in the artistic life of Russia in the early twentieth century. It was he who had the honor of opening the domestic art of the western audience. In the exhibition of a variety of products: posters, costumes and scenery, sketches of them, curtains, pictures of dancers and ballet scenes, portraits of artists. Most of the works provided by museums and private collectors from different countries, first demonstrated in Russia. Among the prime - the unique scenic layouts 1920-1930 from the collection of the New National Museum of Monaco. Around 250 sketches of scenery and costumes are made famous by Russian and French artists, in many ways shaped the art of the twentieth century: L. Bakst, Alexander Benois, Natalia Goncharova, M. Larionov, N. Roerich, Pablo Picasso, G. Braque, Henri Matisse, G. de Chirico, A. Derain, and Russian artists in exile P. Chelishchev, N. Gabo, Pevzner, whose works are rarely found in Russian collections. For the first time in Russia, will show about 50 authentic costumes for the Russian Ballet, including such rarities as the constructivist costumes for the ballet "Jester" from sketches Larionov and hand-painted costumes of Matisse for the ballet "The Nightingale." Among the most famous works - the epic (10x10 meters) curtain for the ballet "Blue Express" on a sketch by Pablo Picasso from the Victoria and Albert Museum (London). An important part in the drama of the exhibition are photographs, filled with major Russian and European photographers. Among them - a scene from the play "The Rite of Spring", "The Golden Cockerel," Prodigal Son "," Polovtsian Dances "," Firebird "as well as portraits of the artists Diaghilev troupe - Pavlova, T. Karsavina, O. Spesivtseva , B. and Nijinsky, Massine, V. Fokin. In the exhibit of photos put the emphasis not so much on their documentary value, but on purely artistic effects, typical for that time. Reconstruct the performances and at the same time recall abiding interest in the Diaghilev legacy will help modern art objects and video installation, created by, inter alia, on the theme performances of "Parade" by Pablo Picasso, "Ball" by J. de Chirico, "Ode" P. Chelishchev, "Cat" N. Gabo and A. Pevsner. The connection of heterogeneous artifacts, where each group has its own significance, makes it possible to create not so much a chronicle of how the image of Diaghilev's seasons, to convey their scale, the internal dynamics of development, the desire for novelty shapes, struck demanding European audience. Do not miss !!!:) |
