Help "2000". Dmitry Zatonsky - doctor of philology, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, member of the European Academy of Arts and Sciences. Born July 2, 1922 in Odessa in the family of well-known statesman and party leader Vladimir Zatonsky USSR, and later killed during Stalin's purges in 1937 - 1938. He taught German at the University of Kiev (1956 - 1959), headed the department of criticism in the magazine Foreign Literature "Vsesvit" (1959 - 1960), was dean of the Philology of Kiev University (1960 - 1961). Since 1961 Zatonskii works at the Institute of Literature im.Shevchenko, where he founded the department of foreign literature.
Among his works - basic research: "The age of XX. Notes on the literary form in the West "(1961)," Franz Kafka and the problems of Modernism "(1965)," In search of the meaning of existence "(1967)," On modernism and modernists "(1972)," The Art of the novel and the XX Century "( 1973), "The past, present, future" (1982), "Austrian literature in the XX Century" (1985), "artistic orientation XX Century" (1988), "Realism - a question?" (1992), "Modernism and Postmodernism : Thoughts on the eternal circulation of subtle and inelegant Arts "(2000). In a speech to the 80 th anniversary Zatonsky FRG Ambassador to Ukraine Dietmar Studemann said: "Dmitry Zatonsky - our best ambassador, he represents many generations of well-known German writers in Ukraine. But his value even more. He holds a mirror to our face literature. Because only when you see your own reflection, we can talk about a complete picture of the world. This is what the Dmitry Zatonsky, so in Germany, he received great recognition.
The award of the Goethe-Institute Zatonskii DV was for "spreading German culture in Ukraine, Russia and other Slavic states. By the way, the representatives of the Goethe-Institute, stressed that the" orange fashion "had no effect on this choice, because nominuvaty candidates began long before the fateful political developments in Ukraine. Dmitriy Zatonskii many joined the development of representatives of the Goethe-Institute in Kiev since its opening.
