Dear experts, what do you think about this job?

Original text with the inventory of paintings:

"Proposed to you for atributatsii and evaluation of" Portrait of an old rabbi "is the image of a wise old man with a pervasive gaze. The portrait written by the author in oils on a wooden board measuring 14cm x 18cm. Board consists of very thin - 3mm wooden plates, possibly cypress, which is glued to the board mahogany thickness of 16mm. Photos reverse side of the picture and end boards portrait attached.
In the lower left corner there is friction signature Rembrandt, which is visible only when the angular coverage directed beam of light. Preservation of a good portrait. There are small blisters on the surface of the painting.
It is known that Rembrandt Harmesz van Rijn (1606-1669) created a gallery of portraits of Dutch Jews: girls and boys, old men, artisans, and rabbis. He regarded them as representatives of an ancient people, the only true and worthy of an artist's model for bibleynyh motives. In the depiction of Jewish typecasting Rembrandt gave wonderful examples of psychological skills and diversity.
In the depiction of old age Rembrandt shows the highest skill. Therefore his portraits are so good old ravvinov. On depicted a number of majestic figures in heavy robes in berets, tall hats, turbans in persons with serious and thoughtful look.
Portraits of rabbis have the highest assessment of art lovers during the life of the author and in the later period and are stored in the most famous collections of the world. For example, a portrait of 1639 is a collection of paintings of the Duke Devarshirskogo in England, the other a portrait of a rabbi, was created in the same year, is in London Hampton Court Palace, a portrait of a rabbi in 1636 - in London Buckingham Palace, decorated with portraits of other galleries in Prague, Budapest, Berlin, the Hermitage of St. Petersburg, London National Gallery in London. Photographs of portraits of rabbis from the book "Judisches Lexikon. Judischer Verlag /Berlin 1930" is attached.
Proposed atributatsii portrait (family heirloom), apparently created by the author in the same period, the other from this series. Despite the small size of the area of painting "Portrait of an old rabbi is an example of translating the author's conscious perception of the eternal wisdom and significance for world history of the Jewish people."

Even without going into such details of attribution, as a manner of writing, to my untrained eyes, this picture does not look like 400 years ..:) By the way, why no photos back side of this product?

sergejnowo 19.09.2009 23:21

It is clear that he did not.
Apparently the work of the late 19 th century, or even younger.
The tree on which the written work, a typical basis for the second half of the 19 th century in the style of old masters.
It can be attributed more to Repin than Rembrandt.:)

Dear experts, what do you think about this work?

"The original text from the inventory of paintings" has no relation to it.

This is not a Rembrandt, not because he wrote and drew a little better, but, most importantly, there is no sense of the image, in which recognizable Rembrandt and valued.

Discussion at the forum "Rembrandt" sense?
---------------------------------------------
The research project "Rembrandt" (born Rembrandt Research Project) - the Amsterdam team of scientists, formed in 1968 for the study of Rembrandt's artistic heritage in order to verify its authenticity and the actual origin of the great artist's brush.

Many of the works attributed to Rembrandt, were made by his pupils and apprentices and for centuries were sold under his name, by the middle of XX century there were more than a few thousand. Research project "Rembrandt" gave sensational results: pictures, previously known as Rembrandt's works, was denied authorship of the artist, which led to serious criticism of the project by the museum community.

To determine the authorship of works by Rembrandt was difficult even to his contemporaries, as Rembrandt often only with difficulty be distinguished from the works of other artists: Howarth Flink, John Livensa or Arent de Gelder. From paintings of Rembrandt in his studio often write copy and replicas. For example, we know the ten versions of the picture "Judas returned the thirty pieces of silver", which can not be clearly defined to attribute the artist. Sometimes, in order to identify the author, using archival documents, literary references, or engravings, reproductions, but they do not have sufficient reliability. In addition, natural-science research is conducted, as well as the work involves experts in the field of quality and stylistic peculiarities of the artist. So it is possible to establish similarities and differences in comparison with the works that have no supporting documentation.

did not work to hang a photo, had to throw one and then get the hang of the back of the photo.

By the way, a single image can be placed in a separate post, rather than suffer with substitutions.

It seems that this "inventory" wrote a man, not quite fluent in Russian language:

- "Represents the image of a wise old man with pervasive gaze.
- "There is friction signature Rembrandt, which is visible only when the angular coverage directed beam of light."
- "In the depiction of Jewish typecasting Rembrandt gave wonderful examples of psychological skills and diversity."
- "He portrayed a number of majestic figures in heavy robes in berets, tall hats, turbans in persons with serious and thoughtful look."
- "Despite the small size of the area of painting" Portrait of an old rabbi is an example of translating the author's conscious perception of the eternal wisdom and significance for world history of the Jewish people. "

It seems that this "inventory" wrote a student of the sixth or seventh grade, try to use "in an adult. The second option - a bad translation from a foreign language, made by man, not quite freely knowing that language (as, indeed, and Russian, too).
