  Studied under Jean-Simeon Chardin. In 1704 he became director of the Paris Royal Academy of Painting. He participated in the work on the paintings for Notre-Dame de Paris, Saint-Gervais, Saint-Germain-des-Press, Saint-Médard. His paintings are found in many museums around the world.
