July 30 - Day of the Navy Russia
Creating a regular navy in Russia was due to the urgent need for countries to overcome the territorial, political and cultural isolation that has become at the turn of XVII-XVIII centuries, the main obstacle to economic and social development of the Russian state.

In the mouth of the Northern Dvina Novodvinsk built a fortress. June 24, 1701 the Swedish squadron of seven ships under the command of Vice Admiral Sjöblad, not knowing anything about the recently built by the strengthening of Russian, came to the mouth of the Northern Dvina. The battle lasted 13 hours. Those who have survived the Swedes barely managed to escape into the sea on one galiot. Another big victory for Russia's young fleet was triumphant.

During the period of his reign, Peter managed to do for the state Rossiyskogo very much, but the list of his services to the Fatherland is a title that he himself appreciated most of all - the "father of the Russian fleet.

Thanks to Peter the Great, Russia is among the strongest naval powers. It is the "father of the Russian fleet" and originated the idea to hold festive military parades. It is believed that the first such parade was held in 1699 before the Kerch campaign courts of Taganrog.

Day of the Navy celebrated on the last Sunday of July on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from 01.10.80 "On public holidays and commemorative days. This is one of the most favorite holidays in the USSR and then Russia.

Naval seamen in the Soviet Union enjoyed a special honor and respect. And they themselves enthusiastically celebrated their professional holiday - Day of the Navy. Submariners, naval commandos and other soldiers, the battlefield which is the sea, confirm that their case requires special training, special state of mind, a special vocation.
