In 1880-ies., The Academy of Arts Andrew Ryabushkin friends with quite a wealthy young man, who was five years older than he, - Ilya Tyumenev,
Tyumenev was artistically gifted in kind, but did not study for the sake of the craft artist to earn his daily bread, but rather for the sake of pleasure. In 1887 Tyumen acquired in the province of Novgorod manor "Freedom". Later this corner of the Russian land has become a sort of a place of pilgrimage amateurs and connoisseurs of folk art. Andrew Ryabushkin settled there for a long time in a small house, which was built specially for him. This photo was captured in 1889 when a friendly feast in the name of "Freedom". The main house in Freedom wooden, one-story with mezzanine, its facade was converted into the courtyard farmstead. Before the house there was a vast, overgrown with grass lawn, with traces of flower beds. The house was empty and lonely.
