Buying a work of art at auction - no easy matter

Leafing through the auction catalogs, pay attention to the obscure icons, carefully placed next to the number of lots: another risk to buy a pig in a poke

Quote from the article:

But it happens that the seller and the auction house, enter into an agreement under which the owner of the subject receives a certain amount, even if the lot is not sold, - a sort of consolation prize. Such "guaranteed" lots in Sotheby's catalogs are marked circle 2.
Is really so? Ever heard of guaranteed lots, which are subject to compulsory redemption of the auction house in case of failure. And what kind of consolation prize?

Vladimir, Volodya at auctions, I once did not buy, first inflated prices by 30-70%, the second problem falshakov.
All the same you can buy in Russia in two or three times cheaper (I have a classic Russian art, socialist realism).
Article just like, I did zapostil who bought, can answer your question.

There lot can be guaranteed as the auction house, and some third party. Therefore, after the auction, even if the lot "to guarantee" is not sold - the buyer will receive money for it. Consolation prize - which means the same mandatory redemption. Just the buyer could get more if the lot was sold and went to bid on the price.

So, just for some reason I was sure that in a number of excellent articles and site AI have detailed " briefing " for buyers - what are the " pitfalls " when shopping at our auctions and how to get around them ? I thought maybe someone on hand ..

It is clear , for example, that the banks that issue credit, all the conditions prescribed , but before contact with the banks , still want to get a qualified third-party advice <! - ~ 1 ~ ->

Here is another good article from the archives of the AI in the subject. Let it be :

Since the rights and duties of the buyer in the rules prescribed bidding auction houses - you can read them before bidding.

So the rights and obligations of the buyer in the rules prescribed bidding auction houses - you can read them before bidding .

Read , then read , and who all laid out on shelves ? <! - ~ 1 ~ ->

Explain , for example, which documents must to give the buyer auctioneer . house , etc., etc. It is clear that every home can have their rules, but some general rules should be ? That's what 's wanted
