People's artist of USSR (1974). Member of the Academy of arts of the USSR (1953).
Vice-президент of the Academy of arts of the USSR (1974).
Laureate of the State prize of the USSR (1949, 1951). Professor (1954).
He graduated from the Moscow Institute of fine arts (1935),
studied with S. V. Gerasimov and D. S. Moore.
As an artist-репортера participated in polar expeditions on the icebreaker "Sibiryakov" (1932) and Chelyuskin (1933-1934).
Taught at MGHI them. Surikov (1953-56), Moscow PED. Institute. Lenin (1956-62).
Awarded 2 orders and medals.
Album "Сатира and friendly cartoons@" published in 1982 (Leningrad, Khudozhnik RSFSR).
In the village of Sursko-Литовском Dnipropetrovsk region since 1990 there is a memorial Museum.
