Icon of the Holy mother "weep Not for me, Mother"
The iconographic composition devoted to the lamentation of Christ the virgin Mary. Sometimes referred to as "Lamentation of Christ", in Greek – "Pieta".
This icon participated in Worship only once a year, on Holy week, it was posted on the lectern most often on Good Friday. It is a way of resistance before Christ was prepared for Him to torment. Title taken from ode of the ninth ode of the Canon of Cosmas Maonskogo on Holy Saturday, which is also one of the sources of the iconography: "weep Not for Me, Mother, hanging in the tomb, in the womb without seed thou didst conceive the Son: the Vostan Bo and proslavilsya, and will exalt with glory neprestanno, thou God, with faith and love magnify Thee."
