Francis bacon did not disappoint Phillips
At the evening auction of contemporary art Phillips in new York on 14 may, the work of Francis bacon's "Seated woman" (1961) sold for $28.2 million, This large-format portrait belongs to the early period of creativity of one of the most expensive artists of the second half of the twentieth century. The painting depicts Muriel Belcher, one of the main musical artist and owner of the Colony Room club in SOHO, a frequenter of which was bacon.
