New world records at Christie's.
Yesterday's trading Looking Forward to the Past new York brought two of the historical record:
"Women of Algiers (Version 0)" Pablo Picasso sold for $179,365,000 - the most expensive work of art sold at public auction, and "Man pointing" Alberto Giacometti sold for $141,285,000 - this is the most expensive sculpture. On the photo Giacometti sculpture in the background "Black bar" Mark Rothko, which was sold at these auctions at $40,485,000. |
The numbers certainly are impressive.. you can not say about the works.

As anyone In... this case (as in cases, such as with modern art, where inflated "bubbles") don't consider the price tag of care indicator of the level of the work. Here is my amateurish IMHO.. ;)

Rarely would agree with Syzran. Work just" Shine "!!!We think temporarily, it is difficult to assess in today's Russia because of many reasons, including religious-nationalist rhetoric of the "Russian world" ,and it would be necessary to recall the recent past and to look through the eyes of internationalist perspective on art.

Do not, do not look. we need to sell our Russian Christie or whatever they call it. It's not prices are rising , the dollar is inflation. I repeat once more for the beautiful art the best means of investing money - Bought for 150 will sell for 200 - just get your money back. |
[QUOTE="Pavel;3451781"]'t, don't look. we need to sell our Russian Christie or whatever ago@
I wonder how this is feasible in the presence of of the Law on export and import of cultural values ,which, in brief looks like this Step right, step left prison, jump on the spot-confiscation |

These two record-breaking works of modern art can be called only conditionally and only against the background of realism a La the nineteenth century: their authors recognized classics of twentieth century art, a thing of Picasso created almost 100 years ago and already been time-tested, exposure history and market, and Giacometti sculpture has already crossed the half-century milestone. Arkady, bubble" in the auction by 10 million do not store any auction and do not pay as a result of their $160 million + 12% Commission. |

Arkady, bubble" in the auction by 10 million do not store any auction and do not pay as a result of their $160 million + 12% komissii@ I will not argue. Time will tell. But then the score will go on for decades, maybe our children will be able to figure out a bubble or not a bubble. |
