In the Museum of Moscow will host an exhibition Grositskogo Andrew (b. 1934 in Moscow) - one of the classics of modern Russian art. The work of the artist, whose work is indissolubly linked with Moscow, will be on display along with items from the collection of Moscow Museum, Matisse, and also together with items from his own collection - the heroes of his works.

The style and position Grositsky formed in the 1960-ies in a circle of artists of the "other art", Moscow underground - Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Ivan Chuikov, Boris Turkish, Yuri Zlotnikov. Grositsky rightly called "the poet of things" in contemporary art. This year for Grositsky - anniversary, in November 2014 he was 80 years old. A retrospective exhibition of an artist who continues to work, is eighty works from different periods of his work, from the end 50-h years up to 2015.

The title of the exhibition "Archaeology of the gaze", borrowed from the texts of Michel Foucault, focuses on the archaeological and anthropological side of art Grositsky. The study of the aura of the city and time through the images of things. The exhibition of paintings will be presented together with real things they depict, and which the artist found in a variety of circumstances, collected and used as models, transforming them sometimes beyond recognition, changing their scale, color, enhancing the texture. From a purely pictorial exhibition turns into a dialogue of visual motifs and original items (found objects), each of which is associated with the history and life of a particular place and the entire city. "Things" Grositskogo Andrew will also appear in the dialogue with the items that belonged to ordinary Muscovites - they are selected by the artist from the collection of Moscow Museum, which houses the largest collection of objects of city life. Between the real and the depicted things occurs the full dialog - about Grositsky repeatedly stated, as an artist, which directs the viewer's eye "from Genesis to Genesis".

Works by Andrew Grositsky for the exhibition from private collections (including private museums) and the collection of the author. Co-organizer of the exhibition is the gallery pop/off/art, which for many years worked with the artist and previously acted as the organizer of his retrospective exhibition at the State Tretyakov gallery (2007). By the end of the exhibition it is anticipated the publication of a catalogue with texts by art historians and philosophers, as well as the artist.
