G. A. V. Traugot - collective pseudonym three masters of book illustration, George (1903-1961), Alexander (1931) and Valeria (1936-2009) Traugott.
Traugot started working in the field of children's book illustration in 1956; it was the book "686 funny transformations". The first books they illustrated all together, the three of us - my father and brothers. The drawings were signed, respectively, by three initials: G. A. V. George, Alexander, Valery. After the tragic death of G. N. Traugot in 1961, his sons have left the name of the father in his paintings, implying developed following three style and thus like working together with my father. They called George N. their main teacher.
Under the signature of G. A. V. Traugot favorite illustrated children around the world tales of the great Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, the works of Maurice Maeterlinck, "Iliad" and "Odyssey" by Homer, "the Science of love" Ovid, "the Golden ass" of Apuleius, the tales of the brothers Grimm and Wilhelm Hauff, tales of Charles Perrault, Russian folk tales, Cuban, Cambodian, Chinese and Japanese tales, the works of Pushkin, Aksakov, Tolstoy, Nabokov, Gumilev, Bulgakov, works of German, English, French, Chinese, Hungarian, American, Polish and other great writers of the world.
Artists regularly participate in Russian and international exhibitions of books and illustrations, some of them are in private and public collections and museums in Moscow (including the Tretyakov gallery), St. Petersburg (including the Hermitage), Tver, Arkhangelsk, Petrozavodsk, Vologda, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ryazan, Kaliningrad and different cities around the world.
