Benoit (Ustinov) Nadezhda L. (1896 - 1975) In marriage Ustinov. She was born may 17, 1896 (S.-Petersburg). Painter, scenographer. Daughter of academician of architecture Leontius Nikolaevich Benois (1856-1928) and Maria Alexandrovna, was. Sapozhnikova (1859-1938), the niece of artists albert N. and Alexander N. Benoit. In 1913 he graduated from high school Safe in St. Petersburg. Since 1914 he studied at the New art Studio in A. E. Yakovlev and C. I. Shukhaev, in 1918-1920 - on a beautiful branch in GShM at Shukhaev, A. N. Kardovsky and N. P. Popov. In 1920 she married an English journalist Jonah of Platonovich Ustinov (1892-1962) - son of Saratov landowner-Lutheran, once expelled from Russia. In the same year, she and her husband moved to England and settled in London. In 1921 they had a son, later known playwright, Director, novelist and popular actor Peter Ustinov. Wrote impressionistic landscapes of Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy, streets and parks of London. In April of 1924 was the first exhibition in a London gallery Little Art Rooms, on which no work was not sold. Driven by her husband, continued to work and gradually gained popularity. Since 1929 has held solo exhibitions at gallery A. Tooth, was exhibited at the New English art club (member club 1937), participated in group exhibitions in London's galleries Goupil, Redfern, Beaux-Arts and other Her landscapes were acquired Manchester art gallery (1930) and Tate (1936). In the autumn of 1933 first turned to the stage, having drama in the theater "mercury". Fulfilled orders for the company of Marie Rambert - Ballet Club (1934 - Ballet Rambert). Wrote the memories of her husband and family life. Many pages autobiographical novel by Peter Ustinov "Dear Me" dedicated to his mother. Buried in the village cemetery in Istrice, Gloucestershire. Grandson Igor Ustinov (p. in 1956), sculptor. Died February 8, 1975 (Illich, Gloucestershire, England).
