))Well someone has attributed on the back. The signature is really like. Consider that a deliberate forgery?

May Ilya efimik for fun himself depicted in a suit of Rembrandt's era? It was too similar ;)
But seriously - my life can't read "Reny" in the signature. I see it, if it Latin, or attempt to reproduce the signature Repin person not familiar with the Cyrillic alphabet.

Thought so too - kind of like the beginning of Repin's, but then "p" became the Latin "p" and appeared dot on "i".
And so, Repin copied Rembrandt, in the Tretyakov gallery hangs a copy of "Portrait of an elderly woman".

Signature really like

Is it possible? Here is a typical sample of signatures on paintings by Repin 1880-1890-ies (first extracted by me from "self-Portrait" of 1887, the second of the "Portrait of C. D. of Spasovic", 1891):

What is characteristic for these signatures, which makes them recognizable? Swinging shackle initial, as if closing it in a semicircle. The dash over "p". The stroke under the name coming from her final letters. These features You will find in most Repin signatures that time (and not only). Nothing in the portrait presented on attribution. My opinion - we are a Dutch painter from the 19th century, imitating the portrait painters of the 17th century ([B]Joz @1,@said that this picture was sold in the spring of the current year in the Netherlands - I think he knows it, like me). In the signature guess typical for Dutch surnames ending-ens.

I would not hurry to declare portrait "Chinese remake", as suggested in the discussion. And sure, it's not fake under Repin - signature never reads like Repin. Reads like a Dutch surname. Just someone in our time have thought of for commercial purposes to give a picture of the Dutch or Belgian artist for Repin - so there was a record on the turn.
