polimpa84, was so cute (and forgotten) Odessa marine painter of the late 19th - early 20th century, 'd Dmitrievich Kostandi (in the literature one can find the date of its life - 1868-1925, but the scientific reconstruction of the biography of the artist yet to come). Mark initial of his work is sometimes more like "L" than "X", as in Your case. But confuses at least that Your canvas is weaker than a number of famous works of this artist, who often gave out and present works by Aivazovsky.

Give normal picture restorer,let to start washing it, and on the assumption that the native will remain will be something to judge(authorship),and based on this, to bring it into saleable condition.It's all"guesswork".With HC.
