Russian , Soviet theater painter, printmaker . He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Repin , graduated from the Faculty of Graphics Higher Art School of Fine Arts ( 1903 - 1913). Upon completion of training received the title of artist - engraver , and for etching "Victor et vito" - the right to pensionerstvo overseas . Professor of Arts since 1940 . Chief artist of the Bolshoi Theatre (1924 -1928) , the head of theatrical decor workshop at the Moscow Art Institute. Surikov (1948 - 1960). Honored Artist of the RSFSR ( 1955 ) .
