Ilya Segal, G. (1907 -1983)

Ilya G. Segal was born August 21, 1907 in the city of Vladikavkaz , today it is - Ordzhonikidze.
In 1923, Ilya Segal and his family moved to Petrograd and goes to the Higher Courses of Art History at the Institute of Art History . Ilya Grigoryevich recalled how surprised the members of the selection committee knowledge of French provincial youth .
 Memorable for Ilya Segal left the meeting at the Isaac with Mayakovsky, Kaverin and Tynyanov . Already engaged at the undergraduate , Ilya Segal comes in a picturesque studio headed by M. Dobuzhinsky , I. Radlov .
 In 1929, Ilya Segal becomes the " expert - curator " , as evidenced by a document certified by the seal of the People's Commissariat of Education of the RSFSR Supreme State Courses Art Criticism at the State Institute of Art History .
Still learning courses , the young curator starts work schedule in the "Red newspaper ", but the craving for theater prevailed . His work in the theater of the Baltic Fleet determined time.

Fundamentally new relationship of the hero and the audience were given a sharp turn to the traditional theaters of today , to the comprehension of the events taking place in the country. In the Theater of the Baltic Fleet Segal draws plays by different authors , among them "The Front " by D. Dividing , "Mutiny" A. Furmanova " On Pole " A. Brushteyn , "Death Squadron " Korneichuk . In these productions, attended mass shows echoes of the twenties , in which the artist himself took an active part as a designer. Soviet plays with their household changed specificity and nature imagery. Building a "road" in the "front" in " Doom Squadron " artist paid tribute to constructivism .
In 1941 , when the war began , the artist went as a volunteer to the front, but was wounded and discharged . In the same year he was evacuated to the city of Chelyabinsk , where as in peacetime worked City Theatre . After recovering from his injuries , Ilya Segal works there decorator .
Wartime and post-war period was a severe test for all people. Going peace building . But even then, when he finally " ended with a good fight better ," the country will long live in a daze . Returning to Leningrad , Segal is once again working in the theater of the Baltic Fleet , which put on plays , and which goes on tour . Love the artist's subtle stylized forms , and sometimes grotesque , attracted to him many directors . He worked with A. and B. Lyutse parchment , P. and A. Chomsky Tutyshkin , Z. and J. Korogodskii Hamarmerom . Staged performances in the theater under the direction Raikin . Finding in his creative writing intimate, director and artist Akimov and invites . Segal for the costumes in the "Inspector" by N. Gogol . Working with different directors , Ilya Segal designed more than 250 productions in various genres, many of which were marked by the All-Russian awards.
