"Royal Game" - the unique chess at the Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts

The exhibition project "Royal Game " will be held at the Russian Museum of Decorative -Applied and Folk Arts with the support of the Russian Chess Federation from September 11 to October 27, 2013 The project is exhibited more than 70 chess sets , five gaming tables , as well as rare items and memorial exhibits. Chess made of porcelain and metal, walrus , and mammoth ivory , wood , glass and stone , made of birch bark and amber , carved , chiseled and molded figurines depicting animals and people. Bone Chess "Peoples of the Caucasus " , the famous porcelain chess Natalia Danko " Red and White ", Uelen chess 1920s with figures of animals of the Far North. Visitor interest , surely, will cardboard chess - cubes pasted images of figures since the siege of Leningrad , the game set of wire , made in the gulag , "marine chess " - wooden figures with a special weighting belonging to Admiral Nakhimov , "space" chess set made specifically for the playing conditions of weightlessness and were on orbit.

In the framework of the " royal game " official partner - Russian Chess Federation - arranges a meeting with the 14th World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, lectures and international grandmaster chess arbiter Yuri Averbakh and , quizzes and activities for children , simultaneous games .
The " royal game " not only shows the history of chess in the historical , cultural, artistic context - it is also an interactive exhibition game that is supposed to involve the viewer on a journey through the world of chess.
