Russian artist abroad. Born in Calvary , the Warsaw province of the Russian Empire. In 1914 the artist's family emigrated to the United States . The initial art education received from his father - the artist's tissues. In 1925 she studied at the Art Students League in New York with B. Robinson. In 1927 - 1928 continued his studies in Moscow - in VKhUTEMAS from J. Shterenberg and spent some time in Paris, where she took private lessons and studied the work of the Impressionists. After returning to the United States was living in Chicago, was a member of the Chicago Islands artists and active exhibitor of group art exhibitions in various cities in the United States. In 1930, in New York, and in 1931 - in Chicago held solo exhibitions of the artist. Since 1935 he lived in New York City. Was friends with many artists - J. Sloan , A. Maurer , E. Ganzi , D. Burliuk , who in 1936 performed her portrait. She painted portraits , landscapes , still lifes and genre scenes . His works are in the Whitney Museum of American Art , the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum and the Hebrew (all - New York), the Museum " Art Institute " in Chicago and others
