He studied at the Higher State-VHUTEINe (1925-30) in A.A.Osmerkina, R.R.Falka, D.P.Shterenberga. A member of the OST (1930). In 1931, out of the remaining, becoming one of the founders and chairman of the association "Izobrigada", which also included Adlivankin, Williams, Luchishkin, Pimenov. In the early 1930s, along with I.V.Ivanovskim, M.L.Gurevichem, A.I.Igumnovym founded the creative team "TIGI". He participated in expeditions on icebreakers "Krasin", "Lenin" (1933-1934). One of the founders MOSSH, Member of the Board (since 1947), Executive Secretary of the Board MOSSH (1949). He was repeatedly elected a delegate to the Republican and All-Union Congress of the Union of Artists, a board member of the Art Fund of the USSR.
