Efim Efimovich Volkov was born in St Petersburg in 1844, where he studied at the Graphic Art School for the Promotion of the Arts, and also as an

unofficial student at the Academy of the Arts. He remained working in St Petersburg as a landscape painter and illustrator for most of his life, however

he did travel to the Crimea in 1879, and the Middle East in 1888. Volkov was a member of the Preddvizhnik Society, and was elected an Academician. He

died in February 1920 in St Petersburg.

Провенанс хоть и Сотбис, но в 1990 экспертов там нормальных не было.
