Painter, sculptor and graphic artist. Honorary Doctor of the University of San Francisco, Honorary Doctor of the European Academy of Arts (Paris), Honorary Doctor of Cedar Crest College (Allentown, PA, USA), a member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of art. The owner of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of the Ministry of Culture of France, the Gold Medal of the International Competition of book illustrations, Venice, Nishida Prize of the Paris City Hall. He studied at the Art School at the Academy of Arts. Repin in Leningrad. In 1964, he participated in an exhibition at the State Hermitage Museum, for which the persecuted, and in 1971, he emigrated from the Soviet Union. In 1971-1981 he worked. he lived in Paris. Since 1981 he has been living in New York. Works by MM Shemyakin are in the Tretyakov Gallery, in the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, a collection of the Norton and Nancy Dodge, Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ, USA), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Museum of Modern Art of Paris, the Museum Art (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Kolodzei Art Foundation, (Highland Park, NJ, USA).
