Died artist Oleg Vassiliev
 

One of the activists of the unofficial Soviet art , artist Oleg Vassiliev died on the night of January 26, 2013 . It is reported online edition " Artguide " with a link to Emilia Kabakov in Facebook.

Vasiliev was born November 4, 1931 . In 1958, he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute named after VI Surikov with Erik Bulatov and Ilya Kabakov. The artist took lessons from a master of woodcuts and book illustrations by Vladimir Favorsky.

Vasiliev was known as a painter and as an illustrator of children's literature. In 1967 , he joined the Union of Artists of the USSR , and in 1983 he became a member of the Joint Committee of the Moscow Graphic Artists.

In 1990 the artist moved to New York , where he lived and worked in the recent past. His work can be seen at the State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Museum of Modern Art , the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and in several private collections in the United States .
