Born in Moscow in 1934. In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Art School named after VI Surikov. From 1953 to 1956 he studied painting at the Faculty of the Moscow State Art Institute named after VI Surikov. From 1956 to 1960 studied painting at the Faculty of the Leningrad State Institute of Painting , Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin (studio of E. Moiseenko ). In 1960 - 1961 years. worked on the island of Spitsbergen. In 1962 he became a member of the Union of Artists. Since 1963, he traveled in the Russian North and Arctic ( Kola Peninsula , Chukotka, Taimyr). In 1964 and 1968, his book " Seven inches from the pole " and " what ."
