Вложений: 4
Happy New Year ,

Here's a puzzle - a portrait of the famous seafarer Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521) , writing on the board by an unknown artist . I think that a copy of the famous Italian artist Parmidzhianino ( 1503-1540 ). Original, unfortunately , not found. According to this page, portrait Ferdinand Magellan already has some some valuables But the mystery is this - how could Parmidzhianino napisat portrait of Magellan during his life ? And where the copy of the 19th century ?
Incidentally, the picture in the size of 20 x 16.

all can be ... sometimes even getting up better than the original - it depends on the skill of the artist, but then hardly it will be an unknown artist.
But sometimes the unknown can make a copy and the other copies are made before, and with reproductions and illustrations, etc. ..

And why do such a small copy of 20 x 16?

artist was modest, this was the order (NDP: decorating the cabin), this board comes to hand, and can do a suitable frame, such was the fashion, etc - the reasons may be different, who are going to say?
Portraits of this size - a lot ...

Wow, a lot of portraits of this size.
Apparently, they were made specifically for the Chamber premises.

Actually not even written very badly.

Rather well.

But it is unlikely before the second half of the 17th century.

I love, like writing nose :)>

possible is a theory that in the 16th century Parmigianino painted a portrait of Magellan, which are copied later.
And my picture is one of the options.
