"On Earthly Delights"
8 - 24 November 2012. Organized for the 80th anniversary of the master show in "Manezh" "On the joy of earth ..." (which turned posthumous - Zaven Arshakuni died November 2) - do not repeat like her, held at various venues in St. Petersburg and Moscow throughout his long creative life. This is the first most complete and representative exhibition incorporates painting, drawing (easel and book), theatrical sketches (numerous plays, ballets were in art history by decorating Arshakuni), works of applied art. This is a broad retrospective of works showing the scale of talent, the talent of master-round sweep by the example of 300 works collected by major museums of Russia: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music, the State Museum Monument "St. Isaac's Cathedral "Vologda regional picture, Petrozavodsk Art Museum, Yaroslavl Art Museum and many private collections. Epoch itself, which created Arshakuni since 1960, we have moved away from a half a century. It appears to us at the show in a new light, as well as an artist and art itself, which has absorbed this time, his feelings, hopes, dreams ... Joy on Earth. The exhibition at the Manezh - a kind of "resurrection" of creativity Zaven Arshakuni meaningful contact with the world of the artist, full of warmth and humanity of heart, lyrical passion and spiritual greatness. Zaven Arshakuni always had incredible modesty. All his rich creative life was spent away from any public representation and self-promotion. This artist has no titles, no government awards. His only reward is a resident of besieged Leningrad Medal, Silver Medal, received in 2003 from the Russian Academy of Arts, and the title of corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts is awarded to him recently - in 2007. However, the contribution made Zaven Arshakuni his creativity in the development of domestic and especially St. Petersburg art, is not comparable to any of the government awards. The exhibition features the works of various genres - portraits, landscapes, still life compositions of biblical scenes, the epic scale of nature. In addition to paintings and graphic works on display will be, the interior of the studio - has a variety of pieces of furniture, carved from wood and painted by the artist. The exhibition will be on display as a documentary film on the life and work of the artist. At the opening of the exhibition will be officially awarded posthumous Zaven Arshakuni gold medal of the Russian Academy of Arts, and a gold robe, which is an inherent part of an honorary award.
