Mitrofan Semenovich Fedorov (1870-1942) born in Voronezh region. In 1894 he entered St. Peterbugskuyu Academy of Arts , he studied in the class at the Repin , who has already pointed out the first picture of the future of the painter ' guardsmen on a winter morning . "

In 1902, Fedorov came to Kharkov, where he lived and worked for about 30 years: the Drawing School in the Art College and the Art Institute . He was one of the organizers of the Kharkov Art College.

In his work he was standing on a solid academic basis, but that did not stop him in art. M.Fedorov was among a group of Kharkov artists "Ring", similar in principle to the founders of the avant-garde in Russia - a group of "Jack of Diamonds". Why he did not become a major artist? As written by well-known representative of the Russian avant-garde artist A.P.Ostroumova -Lebedev apparently circumstances prevented his personal life , but not a lack of talent.

In 1934 the artist moved to Leningrad , and taught in the Russian National Academy of Arts. Died in the siege of Leningrad .
