Volkov Yefim Yefimovich (1844-1920)
landscape painter, was born in St. Petersburg in 1844, artistic education in the Imperial Academy of Arts and finished diligent writing sketches from nature. In 1870 he received the title of Academy neklassnogo artist for presenting its exhibition this year, "Type in the vicinity of St. Petersburg." In 1878, he joined the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions [1] and since then has appeared annually at them with his paintings, taking advantage of their reputation as one of the best Russian artists, mostly of northern nature. From his works in particular are worthy of attention: "In the woods in the spring" (1878), "Carr Marsh" (1879, the property of Mr. Lampi), "Forest road in autumn" (1880), "The forest in the swamp" (1881), "The Dawn "(1882, property Tereshchenko FA)," Quiet Day "(1882, property P. Demidov, Prince of San Donato)," Early Snow "(1883)," Forest Stream "(1885, the property of Mr. Kharitonenko) and some others. [5]
Volkova works are in the Tretyakov Gallery ("Swamp autumn", "Early snow", "Autumn") and in the Russian Museum ("Over the River"). He died in St. Petersburg in 1920.
