Award Kazimir Malevich
 

In the Kiev Center for Contemporary Art presented the first artistic prize Kazimir Malevich.

Her winner was Ukrainian artist Alevtina Kakhidze, received, in addition to public recognition, monetary reward of three thousand and five thousand euro hryvnia, the residence at the Center for Contemporary Art "Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw in 2009, and grants for its implementation.

Prize name born in Kiev on Polish family of the famous painter Kazimir Malevich initiated in 2008. Polish Institute in Kiev will present its biennial artist under 40 years old, born in Ukraine, irrespective of its place of residence, for his contribution to the development of modern art. According to its initiators, the creation of such a prize - the opportunity to recall the contribution of the Poles, which at the same time were the sons and daughters of Ukrainian lands in the formation of the world's cultural heritage.

Unlike literary prizes, awards for artists - a phenomenon not so well known to the public. However, they also play a significant role in the promotion of art, and in advertising their winners. For example, getting one of the most famous in Europe, the Turner Prize (in memory of the famous British artist Joseph Turner) is an artist guaranteed a trip to the art-world elite. Malevich is in the history of world art place not less honorable than Turner, and, perhaps, that the prize of his name eventually reaches the prestige of The Turner Prize.

It's just wonderful that in Kiev there are Polish Institute, which initiates and presents awards to young artists! But even Pinchuk Center supports contemporary art. Because the State did not before. And the culture of money every time the budget is not enough ... Except for the monuments. No Kiev, and a memorial of the ghetto!
