Lord ! Perhaps some of you will help to confirm or deny my assumptions regarding these " pads ". To call these works " art proficiency " <! - ~ 1 ~ -> probably too bold . It seems to me like kitsch in a decent house could be something utilitarian - most likely to Shpalerka fireplace screens. How these " products" can be valuable ?
In the photo: 1 and 2, the general form of 3 - "jewels " are marked with very fine gold beads , 4 - wrong side .

Yeah ...

Thanks for the quick and emotional reaction.

But still, maybe you know what kind of mats?
When and for what created this "luxury"?
How common?
Nowhere did this not occur.

That's right, not embroidery, so that's what I'm able to tell.
By the time: their history can be traced at least during the entire (!) Soviet times.
For safety: No special loss, only the faces of the girls 'pale', and, apparently, mol ...

That's right, not embroidery, so that's what I was able to distinguish .

I can now say stupid ... But I think that it's a stitch. There is a technique - " carpet ". Simulates the carpet . Performed manually, using simple device - a special needle with a handle. Used as the basis of the ordinary weave linen cloth , and as the main material - wool (or - any other , but not necessarily - thick , voluminous ) threads. So it is possible to embroider a rug, a decorative pillow case , panels, upholstery for seats and chair backs etc, etc. Fun is a very old ( see the technique performed in the "groove" on the table the late 1940s - 1950s ).
I'm pretty sure , but happy to hear the opinion of professionals.

Well said , we see their fate did not work .

Furniture Factory tapestry was in vogue in the early 20th century , and now it is produced in Italy and England. Your - is clearly the pre-revolutionary Russian and may have been stripped of their chairs , stove which heated , according to the ragged edges.

Your - obviously the pre-revolutionary Russian and,

Yeah?
And I see Austria-Hungary for her many Slavic Kronlandov for any Dalmatia or Bohemia, Carinthia, or Lodomeria, in general.

Yes, perhaps with a chair , disappeared in the stove . How much is normal for this pre-Revolutionary furniture such magnitude ? Because the size of " rugs " 57 by 55 cm?
And whether upholstery fabrics adorned with beads so ? ( Photographs by bead earring and a toothpick to scale. edges of rugs covered with some glue (?) with traces of paper ( ?)
What about my guesses about the fireplace Shpalerka ? Just a bad idea? <! - ~ 12 ~ ->
