Вложений: 5
Hello!
A small introduction. Purchased the old picture (landscape ) without moldings , took her to an artist friend to clean up ( clean ) , to our surprise found a canvas under another painting , here is this old man. No inscriptions , oil on canvas , maslo.Razmer 63h47 , 5.Holst was in a terrible state , breakthroughs in several places, the dirt may not have been something to consider. After a little cosmetic repair the old man 's got such a form. According to an acquaintance of the artist, is a sketch for the painting , about 18-19 century. Please help me identify who this old man who reads , who can saw his picture in the other pictures? And why hide it under a different cloth ? Your assumptions ! |

What we can say now after such a massive intervention? |
Molevich,
Toinen, thanks for your assessment, but I'm not interested in the quality of this work and how it interfered with the large scale restoration. I just asked to help determine who might be reading this old man and not seen a picture of his other works. |

Jerome (Saint Jerome, 347 - 420), translator of the Bible into Latin. Unable to load image from the first time. This inhibits the twitter page, and generally annoying. |
Amateur, thank you very much for your answer tomorrow'll find information about it.
I managed only a cursory read on the internet, that image of the Saint. Jerome was a favorite with Ribera. According to the latest catalog of his work, he wrote the holy forty-four times. Thank you again! |
