Ivan Andreyevich Krylov was born (2) February 13, 1769 in the family of an officer, and his childhood years were spent in the Urals and in Tver. In Petersburg, the writer is only returned in 1806. In the period from 1812 to 1841 he served as a librarian in the Imperial Public Library.
