The family settled in firmly Kuznetsov Odessa district. So the brothers Dmitri Mikhailovich, all the military, Lieutenant Leo M., Lieutenant-Captain Konstantin, Lieutenant Nikolai Mikhailovich and landowners were the Odessa District. Himself as the village belonged to Dmitry Mikhailovich Novomarinovka, Konstantinovka, Dmitrovka Stepanovka, Maryanovka, Pshonyanoe.
         Nicholas received education at Odessa High School. Teaching weighed on him. Inclination to the sciences, in contrast to his younger brother Dmitri, he did not show in the 7th grade, leaving high school. In the country he leads free life of carefree young master. Hunting was his favorite pastime.
         His mother, Claudia Gavrilovna Kuznetsova (born Leontovich), reveals a penchant for painting son and takes him to Odessa, a family friend to the artist FD Malmanu, one of the best teachers of the Odessa Drawing School. During the year, he takes lessons from him, and the ability to detect fine.
         When Nicholas was 26 years old, being from a military family, possessing extraordinary physical abilities, decides to go to St. Petersburg and to enroll in the Guard Lancers.
         The commander of the Guard Lancers, Baron Essen, was ill. ND did not get to see him.
         He suddenly takes an unexpected decision for everyone to become an artist, come volunteer at the Art Academy.
         He worked well, although often left the Academy, engaged in painting and living in his home estate. In total, Kuznetsov spent at the Academy only three winters, and then only for two - three months. One-third stayed in the main class, two-thirds in the figure, then about a year in full-scale. During this time he won three silver medals. In 1879 at the insistence of Kramskoy and II Shishkin, he leaves the academy and returned to Stepanovka where, together with AP Razmaritsynym, continues to paint.
         In Kuznetsov's estate on the field work with Volyn province came "zarobitchane." Among the workers liked the girl Nicholas. The feeling grew into love. Nicholas's mother opposed the marriage and dismissed workers. Nicholas perseverance and courage, returned the workers and Hanna, was the name of the girl and future wife.
        Officially, ND married AG Protsenko, daughter of a retired warrant officer in the Church of the Assumption of Odessa Edinoverie February 5, 1888, their marriage was formalized when they had already had two children. One of the witnesses was Chiriac Kostandi
        In 1880, visited Germany and France, where he met with the IP Pohitonova. In the same year, he was born on the first daughter Maroussia.
        In the early 1880s met with SI Mamontov and artists Abramtsevo circle: VD Polenov, V. Vasnetsov, VA Serov and IE Repin.

         In 1889 an event occurred, which many believe was the turning point for Nikolai Dmitrievich. By demonstrating his power to his brother and friends holding it on the shoulders of two men lying on the ground picked up thirty-two pounds of woman. As a result of sprained ligaments. Many years after this he had to walk on crutches. I had to work while seated.
        Since 1890, the creative artist's estate becomes Stepanovka. In the same year participated in the organization TYURH (Tovarischetsva South Russian Artists)

         In November 1895goda, after the reorganization of the Academy of Fine Arts was invited to the School of Arts of St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts professor and head of the class battle painting. In March 1897 Kuznetsov left the Academy
         In 1897 he acquired land from the lands of the former summer residence Lidersa and begins to build a gallery and studio. 1899 construction terminates
        In 1900 open art gallery. At its meeting were pictures of Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, I. Kramskoy, Vasnetsov, J. Pohitonova, paintings by French artists salon Campo Marzio, J. artists Alexander, L. Affairs, S. Kotte, G. Latouche, F . Taulova etc. This gallery has played a significant role in determining the attitudes of creative artists in Odessa.
        In 1900, on presentation of IE Repin, VA Beklemisheva and AP Sokolov was elected a member of the Academy of Arts (Fine Arts).
        Participates in all exhibitions and TYURH Wanderers. ND Kuznetsov was very popular in Odessa, receiving many orders. His workshop was a unique center, where there were not just local artists but also IE Repin, VA Serov, VD Polenov, MA Wrobel, FI Chaliapin, PK Saksahanskyi and many other prominent cultural figures.
        In early 1920, he emigrated with his family in the Kingdom of CXC. Lived in cities Vzhesh, Bela Church, Rijeka and Sarajevo. Wrote mostly custom portraits. Participated in the exhibition of Russian painting and sculpture at the Brooklyn Museum (1923) and the Association of the Exhibition of Russian artists in the Kingdom of CXC (1928).
         In March 1929 he died. Buried in Sarajevo.
