Secrets of the restoration of graphic works by Rembrandt open the exhibition in Moscow

Exhibition "Preserving cultural heritage: an engraving of the old masters," which are restored in the Moscow Center of Grabar's graphic works of Western European art, was opened at the Museum of Architecture. Shchusev, told RIA Novosti curator of the exhibition, Elena Yakubov.

"The exhibition - a total of a year's work of artists-restorers of graphics and displays the most interesting works of schools in Western prints, arrived at the planned restoration of the collections of regional museums," - she said.

According to the interlocutor agency, the exhibition one can see 40 prints, a small part of that re-creates the Grabar Center.

"This year we have restored 900 sheets, and the exhibition shows the best of them real masterpieces," - said the curator.

Among the works presented are those who performed famous artists - Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt, Lucas van Leyden, as well as lesser known or even anonymous engravers.

Chronologically, the exhibition covers the period from the XVI to XVIII century, and it can be seen on various subjects of: a scene from classical mythology, architectural views, landscapes, portraits, the Old Testament and the Gospels.

To the visitors can better understand the work of specialists in plasma displays show how the product looked like before it came to the Center Grabar.

Thus, even after a heavy fire that raged in the building at street radio in July 2010 that killed two rescue workers, the Centre does not stop, although his skill in anticipation of the reconstruction has to huddle together in rented premises.
