People's Artist of USSR (1971), corresponding member AH the USSR (1954). In 1929-1931. studied in VKhUTEMAS-VHUTEINe in NK Istomin, PY Pavlinov, N. Udaltsova, DS Moor. Employee of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" (1931-38), the journals "Change" (1929-1937) and "Crocodile" (from 1938). In the 2nd half of 40-60s. created the most significant works - thematic series of easel paintings, the size of approaching to the poster and on the peoples' struggle for peace against imperialist aggression and response, social and racial inequality. In 1952 he was awarded the USSR State Prize for a series of works "Mayakovsky about America." Series "This must not happen again!" Was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1961 in 1981 in Ivanovo opened the house-museum. His works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, SRM, in many regional museums and private collections in Russia.
