Start rebellion led by Pugachev

Emelyan Pugachev, who took the name of Emperor Peter III, released September 17, 1773 manifesto, which called for the Cossacks to their loyalty and service, and to whom he complained of their liberties and privileges. From that day began the peasant revolt under his leadership.

This Peter F. III was the husband of Catherine II, after the coup in 1762, he abdicated the throne and at the same time mysteriously died. Few of the Cossack leaders believed in the risen king, but a man who identified himself as Peter III, Pugachev Emelyan Ivanovich - Don Cossack, a native of the village Zimoveyskoy, a member of the Seven Years War and the war with Turkey, gathered under his banner an army that could be from the government, and took a lot of people behind him.

The peasant uprising spread to land troops Yaik, Orenburg region, the Urals, the Kama, Bashkortostan, part of Western Siberia, the Middle and Lower Volga. During the uprising of the Cossacks joined Bashkirs, Tatars, Kazakhs, Ural factory workers and many serfs of all provinces, where military action unfolded.

Pugachev rebellion (the Pugachev rebellion) has grown into a full-scale peasant war under Ivanovich Pugachev Yemelyan and continued until mid 1775, despite the military defeat of the army and the capture of the Cossack Pugachev in September 1774.
