During the Nazi occupation (1941-1944 years) was a large reserve losses.

April 21, 1945 the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR decided to urgently restore the Pushkin Reserve "as one of the largest cultural-historical and scientific sites of the USSR." Immediately after the liberation Pushkinogorskogo district special committee chaired by Academician Shchusev defined scope of work. Was created a special office building "Lenakademstroya", which was given the task of restoration of architectural and landscaping ensembles, the construction of the museum and outbuildings. Completion date has been set - Spring 1949, Pushkin's anniversary. The builders have coped with this task.
