Removal of old paintings from the U.S.: the procedure and cost?

Dear friends,

Tell me, please , someone came across : what is the procedure of U.S. export picture of a little-known European artist Ages 19-20 which was bought at auction in one state ? Price of work - 3-5 thousand dollars. Is there any such order, require any authorization and etc. ? Or is America - a free country, open to the world ? :)>

Auction house frostbite , and said that they do not export permits (and whether they should have ? ), And really can not explain anything.

And the cost of a delivery from America to Europe , very rough picture of a 3 meter by 1.5 meters? Plane, for example?

The cheapest option - the last one. It's like a post office, with all the choices. If the price issue is not really worried about it - choose DHL. But this is just the carrier, with all the attendant .

I thought someone already had experience in the transport of large size - why would I even wrote and asked?

PS In Kiev, DHL and UPS - problematic when it comes to customs clearance of antiques.
To put it mildly, problematic.

I recently encountered with delivery to the states of 200x150.

True, the work was fresh in 2010.
Its easily taken off the stretcher and with folding stretcher was brought to New York.
Similarly, in England we bring the work of this size - in a roll and a tube.
