Experts Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum said they considered earlier self-portrait painting work actually depicts the artist's brother Theo.
If the experts are right, this portrait can be considered only in the works of Vincent Van Gogh, despite the fact that he was very close to supporting him all my life brother. Previously it was thought that Theo was depicted only in outline, but after the discovery made by a mysterious piece attributed to the official website of the museum as "a portrait of Theo van Gogh." Portrait had long been in the museum's vaults, but from June 22 showed him with new findings from Antwerp and Paris, connected with the life of the artist in the Netherlands 1885-1888, respectively, in the exhibition "Van Gogh in Antwerp and Paris: a new understanding." While the brothers were apparently very similar to each other, historians have substantiated the "discovery" of the portrait Theo number of factors. Associate Museum, Louis van Tilborg expert conducted an exhaustive analysis of 93 paintings by Van Gogh's Antwerp-Paris period, and found the difference appearance brothers. This discovery added another, smaller one: a bird, depicted in the painting, which is called "Wheatfield with lark," the museum staff attributed as the partridge. Van Gogh |
