Honored Artist of Ukraine (1968)
People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1990),
Twice winner of the State Prize. Shevchenko (1983, 1991)
Professor (1995).

Studied at Kiev Art Institute (workshop of Pleshchinskaya, 1948-54). Author of numerous book illustrations, differing emkomu desire to generalize and emotional and psychological disclosure of images of literary works. Of linocuts, built on the contrast of black and white, revealing the spatial depth and volumetric objects (illustrations for the story Kotsyubinsky "Fata Morgana, 1957), J. went on to plane-decorative compositions: refined lines and a stroke differ to the woodcut ( illustrations for the story Kotsyubinsky "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, 1965-66).
