"Court of the Sanhedrin" was a late "passionate cycle" of the artist. Painting was forbidden to display the President of the Imperial Academy of Arts, the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich, and Ge took her to his estate. After the death of the artist's son ferried the last two of his father, including "The Court Sanhedrin," Lev Tolstoy in Yasnaya. Previous stretcher linens were wrapped in newsprint and printing font imprinted on the pictures. Tolstoy's daughter Tatiana Sukhotina-Thick managed only partially successful in parts of the newspaper from the canvas. In 1897, the Court Sanhedrin "was donated to the Tretyakov Gallery, one year later he was at the time placed in the display, and then transferred to the store.

Restoration of the painting in modern times has demanded many years. Results of work, including X-ray and macro photography, will be shown together with the canvas at the exhibition in the Tretyakov Gallery.
