Good day!
Help, please, to determine the author of the picture or at least to the school of painting.
Painting: oil on canvas, 71 x 90 cm, frame 106 x 121 cm (presumably author): wood, covered with a thin velvet.
The artist is unknown, the time of writing (presumably) the end of 19 - beginning of 20 century. The picture used to be with relatives in the city of Leningrad, and before that lived in the Saratov province. Painting stretched on the old sliding professional stretcher. Used medium-canvas direct dense weave, causing the soil by hand. By the nature of the destruction of the paint layer and the presence of a layer of paint on a different color can be assumed that this pattern is written on top of another picture.
At the 1-st photo shows a picture without a frame after its purification, the 3rd picture in a picture frame before beginning work on its restoration. If you need more pieces, I can lay out further.
I would be grateful for any, even the most unexpected opinion or advice in which direction to search for the artist.

Dear experts!

They advised me not to do X-rays of this work, as the lower layers of paint paintings homogeneous, similar properties to the paint of the upper layer. In this case, X-ray may not give anything. By the way there suggested that the entire bottom are 2 pictures, one under another.
So my question is not encountered anyone with such a complex case. Maybe someone will prompt Moscow to seek better not to waste your time, money and not in vain to pull the work. For one thing I will grateful for references to scientific articles and books on the subject.
