In Vienna, Yuri Gagarin see through the eyes of Andy Warhol

The exhibition "Cosmos. Art and Dream ", dedicated to the 50 th anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin into space, opened on April 1, at the exhibition center of Vienna Kunsthalle Wien, reports RIA Novosti.

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition organized in collaboration with the Natural History Museum in Austria with the participation, including the Russian Embassy in Austria and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vienna. The exhibition features photographs, paintings and installations, a total of about 100 works exhibited more than 50 artists, among them - Andy Warhol and Russian artists, Alexander Vinogradov and Vladimir Dubosarsky.

In addition, the project also was made a separate display case devoted to the first Russian cosmonaut. Visitors will be presented with books, newspapers and magazines in the German language with the image of the astronaut, dolls and busts, as well as name plate street Gagarin - Juri Gagarin Strasse.

Opening ceremony attended Austrian President Heinz Fischer.

- I'm standing on the platform Hittsingerbryukke and buy a newspaper. On the front page - the message is that in space have visited the first living creature - the dog Laika. Then I searched for other newspapers to read more about this event, I was delighted and impressed - says the president.

Also, guests of honor ceremony were Russian cosmonauts and an Austrian - Alexander Volkov and Franz Vibeke. The latter told the guests of the exhibition of their impressions of the preparations for the flight and the flight itself - the "rising sun, which illuminates the missile" and "black smoke over the Gulf," which he saw from the window of a spaceship.

- This is a great paint and color - I've seen Africa, Austria, our lake Wörthersee, - he said.
