The exhibition "Petersburg-2010" in the Manege
 

January 8, 2011 at the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" (St. Isaac's Square., 1) large crowds opened the annual exhibition "Petersburg-2010. These have become a good tradition to the exhibition, have long been an important part of this artistic exhibition process Petreburge in general, and the original card Manege. The principle of forming the exhibition - one work from the artist - were at first a lot of criticism (an exhibition held in 1993). But time has shown the relevance and even certain advantages of this approach. Here you can see a certain, perhaps somewhat superficial, but a panoramic slice of artistic life in St. Petersburg - a picture that will not let any other show.

Unfortunately I have not done a systematic survey, but still some pictures I have - will put them as soon as the free time window. Maybe someone from the St. Petersburg colleagues to share - please.

You were not very attentive. The exhibition, as usual, structurally divided into several sections. The entire second floor is occupied by painting - there was and is represented by one work from the artist. On the first floor on the right of the entrance gallery - an exhibition of anniversaries: the artists, who in 2010 were anniversaries (40, 50, 60 years or even less round dates - 45, 55 ...) and there it was, and is represented by 3 -5 works from each hero of the day (typically 10-15 people), and on the 2 nd floor, they are also represented, but in general terms - a job. In the central area of the first floor - the graphics and application (also on a paper). And in the gallery of the first floor to the left of the entrance - the photographers. Therefore, the 5.3 works can be seen only on the first floor right on the above reason, not because of bias. With regard to notification, it seems to me that ads in newspapers, on radio and TV that the bore of the exhibition, was not. But something tells me that will not ... :)
If this exhibition is held every year in early January 1993 (ie 17 years, and breaks were not), I, again, intuition suggests that this is well known to those who do show goes on. And then everything is simple - just call and bring. Oh, and there hudsovet - so that they can and wrap ...
About the dismal - I can only sympathize. My impression is quite bright. But this again depends on what you expect to see. Based on the principle of forming - and needed to approach it accordingly

In Moscow, an exhibition and a painting from the artist, no.
The fact that many paintings does not reach the level, not frightened, important process interaction styles and trends, the artist finds its audience, and the viewer, collector-artist. In conjunction with the democratic character gives the effect that nothing is lost, nothing is hidden, all that is currently in St. Petersburg, here. Therefore, the exhibition is so popular and so many stories in the network.

I must say that my first (I first came upon it in 1995) was irritated by the format - after all there hard to make some intelligible exposition. But then just realized what not to require such an exhibition. And on the other hand some, albeit very colorful, but the sum total picture. This is very useful. Yes, with time and exposure guidelines are then quite reasonable to work out.

Do not remember the criticism of this principle, all at once like that. Criticism has gone then, when they began to "turn ".... Wrap not beginners, and artists have already taken place, ie exhibited, sold, consisting of a CX is already assigned to art galleries, etc. .. As a result, these artists have ceased to participate in these exhibitions and the picture is now one-sided, because exhibits primarily "non-conformist" range and the adjacent ... Realistic art is washed, which is very well seen it at the last show ...
Initially, these shows were really interesting and impressive.

Just criticism was quite a lot - I remember it well, because at first it coincides with my feelings. As for the ratio of non-conformists and the realists - is certainly debatable. For my taste, the exposure is realistic is the current "balance of forces." Time after changing, changing tastes, including tastes and audiences. I think with that, and on the other hand, there are many nepopavshih and non-participating. However, of course, there are some subjective criteria. Well, anyhow some selection is inevitable - Arena is not made of rubber.

But interestingly, happened at least once is to participate in the exhibition from Moscow? Because the selection rules of artists, indeed, very democratic. Hard to believe that experienced Moscow artists never this should not be offended and did not try to be the St. Petersburg audience, dressed up in someone else's skin: we are supposedly working on the two cities, quite a authentic? ;)
