- No wonder they say that for some collectibles - business, for others - call the soul ... But it is no secret that the grateful patients often give doctors paintings, prints, even sculpture. However, this can probably compile a collection of gifts, but not a collection of art, is not it?
- Arts - a thing from my point of view, very serious. This does not draw the pictures. Not interior decoration. All this talk about the riot of colors and creating a good mood through art alien to me. Why I'm started to collect all these pictures? Not because I wanted someone to show that I have some kind of masterpiece or a beautiful interior. It was a scientific study. I wanted to understand where the same criteria of quality in art, why some artists are in eternity, the other as if disappearing. So I came to the conclusion that the most important thing in art - is the artist's personality. Formal criteria, the ability to artist - not the most important thing. While this is important and necessary. For example, a surgeon who can not handle, work with your hands, it's not a surgeon, but still the main tool of the surgeon - a head, not your hands.

-Why do you think the gathering - a kind of experiment?

- When you just walk to the museums - is another story. This is a theoretical study. And when you buy a painting - it's an experiment. You pay money, even small ones. A lot of money, I never did. What has now become a museum, 20 years ago did not at all worth it. But still, you invest some money, which could, for example, have lunch or get some other pleasures of life. And you give them for something completely abstract. It requires to be very accurate.

- That there be clear criteria for selection?

- I work in a cardiologist rather extreme situations for the patient. And maybe this has left its mark on my known world. I do understand that death - that I like a surgeon saying - is very important. Art Now - first of all, a reminder of death. Every day should be lived as if he is the last in your life. These are the thoughts occur to me. The basis of my understanding of art is that it reflects the tragedy of human life - its transience, fragility. And that the real art emphasizes the importance of this life. This is actually my concept.

- In your collection is dominated by paintings created by artists in the years 1960-80, often called the period "the second Russian avant-garde." Why are you so interested in is creativity "nonconformists" of the Soviet era?

- Because of their creative element of suffering was expressed to the greatest extent. Them in the Soviet Union, sometimes pursued even criminal. And some fell on the path. They do not engage in the writing of images on the sale. They splashed his soul to the canvas, and this - the most important thing in art. And if that is the soul of a large scale, then make great canvases.
