Nicanor Haritonovich Onatsky (1875-1937)
Ukrainian artist, painter, historian and poet. Born on a farm Khomenkov Poltava region. He studied at the Moscow Stroganov Art School, OXY (1900 - 1905). Joined the Higher Art School in St. Petersburg AI, which at that time taught Repin, but failed to graduate because of lack of money. He taught painting, drawing, art history and in educational institutions of Kharkiv, Sumy, Swan. Poems were published in almanacs and collections. He headed a commission on the first sumac pamyatnikaT. Shevchenko project I. Kavaleridze. In 1914 he organized the first art exhibition in Sumy. In 1919 initiated the creation of the Sumy Museum of Art History, who led for 13 years. Collected for the museum a large number of rare works of Ukrainian, Russian and European art. He was fond of study Ukrainian art and culture, for which he was accused of Ukrainian nationalism and shot the former Socialist-Revolutionary Party and the counter-revolutionary organization. His works are held in Sumy XM, XM Lugansk, museums in Kiev, Kharkiv, Poltava. In 1994 Sumy XM was named NN Onatskogo. No Does anyone have decent photos of works by this artist? Thanks in advance.
